Understanding CIDB Malaysia: What It Is and Why Grade 7 Matters

In Malaysia’s construction industry, quality, compliance, and professionalism are crucial to building a solid reputation and gaining trust from clients and stakeholders. One of the key regulatory bodies ensuring this standard is upheld is the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia.
What is CIDB Malaysia?
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) is a government agency under the Ministry of Works Malaysia. Established under the CIDB Act 1994 (Act 520), CIDB’s main role is to develop, enhance, and regulate the Malaysian construction industry. This includes contractor registration, training, accreditation, construction materials certification, and ensuring safety and sustainability within the industry.
CIDB also plays a central role in certifying contractors, ensuring they meet specific standards in terms of capability, financial strength, and technical expertise.
The Range of CIDB Grades
Contractors in Malaysia are categorized by CIDB into seven grades (G1 to G7), each defining the value and scope of projects they are qualified to undertake. These grades help clients identify the right contractors for their project size.

G1 – Up to RM200,000
-
G2 – Up to RM500,000
-
G3 – Up to RM1,000,000
-

-
